             +There are three nurses in attendance to meet the medical needs of the participants on a daily basis from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Medication management and dispensing is offered. Diabetic blood sugar monitoring along with insulin coverage is available with medical doctor’s order. An individualized Plan of Care is completed on all participants to manage their specific needs. Every three months the Plan of Care is reviewed and updated. The participant and caregiver are invited to attend the meeting.

             Vital signs and weights are monitored monthly to include: blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Medical doctor and caregiver are notified of any deficiencies in these areas. Medical doctor’s orders are requested by the nurse every six months.

             A podiatrist visits The Support Center two times a month on quarterly basis to attend to the needs of our participants. The podiatrist will bill the insurance company directly. Co-payments may be required by your insurance company. A report is sent to The Support Center and placed in the participant’s medical record.

             A physical therapist is on-site twice a week. Therapy may be arranged with a medical doctor’s order. The therapist will bill the insurance company. Co-payments may be required by your insurance company. A report is sent to The Support Center and placed in the participant’s medical record. This report is also sent to the family and the medical physician.

             The nurses are available daily for any emergency or illness that may arise while at The Support Center. The nurses are also available to the caregivers for any questions or referrals that the participant’s caregiver may need.

             All the nurses are licensed by the State of Maryland Department of Nursing and are cardiopulmonary certified, as well as defibrillation certified.

             Annual flu vaccines are offered to all participants during the flu season. There is a minimal charge to the participants.

             The center is surveyed by both the Maryland Department of Mental Health and Hygiene and Medicaid on a routine basis.
